As promised in my Amsterdam guide, I am sharing with you this amazing restaurant: Stout! A must visit if you are going around Amsterdam. I have to say I wasn’t very attracted by Dutch food in general, so this place really caught my eye when looking online.
Many formulas are available to you on the menu, depending if you go for lunch, etc. But the most amazing thing on this menu is actually the Stout! Plateau, a 3-course meal made only of small-sized dishes, a bit like tapas. In the summer, we already came accross a similar restaurant in Lisbon: Mini Bar, and totally fell in love with it. Honestly we didn’t think to find something like that again any time soon, especially not in Amstedam, but here we were.
The atmosphere
This is something that really ravished me as soon as I sat down. The atmosphere at Stout! was very cosy and sulfurous with its dimed lights (as you can tell in the pictures). Maybe it was because we were in Amsterdam, but it really seemed to me that the interior was inspired my a Red Light District theme, with elegant black and white photographs of naked women and candles, very original and comfortable, I could have stayed hours sitting at our corner table.
The Stout! Plateau
This meal is really value for money, for 30 euros (35 with dessert), you get three sharing plates of fine cuisine tapas: starters, mains, and desserts. The tastes are well mixed and every bite is a surprise, with unexpected associations and also quality products. But I guess pictures speak louder that words in that case.
On a side note, as drinks we had cocktails and wine, and the selection was pretty good.
This place is definitely my food hotspot for Amsterdam, one of the best discoveries of the weekend.
I really recommend booking because the restaurant was full that night. You can directly book online via the restaurant’s website.
